Mowah’s subsidiary – CICLO was selected by the Dubai Municipality Sewage Treatment Plants and Networks Department as the EPC and O&M Contractor for the EPC of the solar dryer covering and operation and maintenance of the Al Aweer (Warsan) STP sludge drying plant. The EPC scope included engineering (design), procurement, and construction (EPC) of a complete covering for the solar drying beds and equipping the facility with odor treatment to mitigate odorous emissions (zero odor) for 10 or 20 years. The facility is required to be operated at its full capacity while the construction is ongoing.
The Al Aweer (Warsan) STP Solar Dryer is located in Warsan, Dubai, UAE and has a footprint area of 29,000 m2. It has 16 solar drying beds with a total design capacity of 250 – 350 tons/day. The solar drying facility is currently operating at only half its design capacity to avoid odorous gas emissions and nuisance to the surrounding community. CICLO’s proposed solution aims to treat odor and meet the KPI target of zero complaints.
The project was procured by the Dubai Municipality through competitive bidding. The O&M contract period with CICLO for the odor treatment of the solar drying plant is initially for ten (10) years and can be extended depending on the mutual agreement of Dubai Municipality and the Contractor.
