It is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project under a build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) structure. The STP has a capacity of 200,000 m3 per day expandable to 350,000 m3 per day. The offtaker – Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) signed a 25-year term Sewage Treatment Agreement (STA) with the project company – Dammam West Company, which was created as a special purpose vehicle. The project is located in West Dammam. This project is the first independent wastewater treatment project implemented by a private sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a public partnership basis. It has achieved financial close in May 2020. The plant is currently under construction. The scheduled commercial operation date is in Q1 2023.
